Starting to belong
We want your child – and you – to feel part of Churston already by the time they arrive in Year 7, so we hold activities in the summer term of Year 6 to help them make the transition:
- Induction day: This will give your child a chance to spend a whole day at the school, with some sample lessons and a chance to meet other students joining the school in September.
- Parents’ information evening: Come and meet some of the staff who will be teaching your child, learn a bit more about Churston, and have a chance to ask any questions.
- PTA fun evening: This popular Friday afternoon event takes place on the sports field, and is the students’ first opportunity to find out who else is in their tutor group. They can start getting to know them right away as the tutor groups form teams to battle it out in an ‘It’s a Knockout’ style competition.
You find out your form at the fun evening and make new friends – one of my best friends I made on that evening – and all the games are really fun. – Olivia Falconer, Year 7
When it comes to starting in September, please take a look at our Year 7 information booklet and the Year 7 induction booklet for lots of information about lesson times, what to bring, and what to expect at Churston.
If you have any concerns you can always contact the Year 7 pastoral care team.
